Area of Expertise
Dr. Jose Eduardo P. Santos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Florida, Gainesville. His research concentrates on nutritional physiology and reproductive biology of dairy cattle, as well as integration of nutritional management and hormonal manipulation of the estrous cycle to improve conception and reduce embryonic loss in dairy cattle. Dr. Santos received his Veterinary Medicine degree from Sao Paulo State University in Botucatu, Brazil and completed MS and PhD degrees in ruminant nutrition under Dr. John T. Huber. In July of 2000, Dr. Santos joined the faculty of the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC-Davis where he focused his research in the areas of nutrition and reproduction of dairy cattle. Then, in 2008, he moved to the University of Florida, where he is responsible for extension and research in dairy cattle nutrition and reproduction.
